Flybe: Budget Airline my arse

When was the last time Flybe gave something back? They might say they can get you the best deals but as this article clearly states, you’re not getting much of a deal.

As you’re reading through their magazine giving you some pretty good prices on alcohol and cigarettes, you come across the section that makes your eyes light up: the food section. As you’re frisking through the pages of this magazine frantically trying to get to the coffee section so you can control your nerves, you skip past the chocolate and sandwich sections, whoa! what just happened, go back a few pages because now you feel hungry and you want a sandwich and a bar of chocolate to go with your coffee.

You have your choices ready and wham! you look at the cost……Now bearing in mind a normal coffee, a chocolate bar and a sandwich in a cafe could be around £3.50, not a bad price when you think you’re sitting down for Free and enjoying the music of the cafe, also for Free, baring in mind you just paid for your seats on this flight they have the cheek to charge you 4 pounds alone for your sandwich, a further 2 pounds for a coffee and another pound for a chocolate bar. This is twice the price of the same lunch you had in a cafe while enjoying the free seating and music!

Feast your eyes (not your wallets) on this beauty. No wonder people are starting to get angry with Flybe.

I now choose to fly with BA (British Airways) as much as I can because at least they offer you a drink (for free) and some shortbread biscuits (also for free) while you fly with them. Their meals are better, there is more room in the overhead compartments, the seats are much bigger and easier to slouch into and for some reason that is beyond me, their air stewardesses are much much sexier. They don’t charge you on your baggage either and I’ve noticed they’re not that much more expensive than Flybe, in fact, sometimes they’re cheaper!

That is all.

You are indeed free to take your customer where you want but Flybe know that at 32,000 feet they have you by the short and curlies, you either starve or pay up! All discount airlines charge such high prices its a trade for cheaper airfairs, I’m not saying its right but thats what they do, the house (or in this case airline) always wins!

If you are a family with say three young kiddiewinkles it make life easier to feed them as it will shut them up, airlines also know this and exploit it.

Personally I try not to eat airline food, the change in air pressure effects your senses so much so that the average cup of inflight coffee is flavoured ten times more than a normal cup of coffee and god knows what they do do the food!

It’s obvious what they do to the food, they get some stale bread from the night before, slam in some ingredients that went off 2 weeks beforehand, package it up in plastic that you just CAN’T tear open with normal fingers and then slap on a 4 pound price to exploit your family funds.

It’s strange how their prices are very similar to BA’s at the moment yet they keep rambling on about how they are “number 1″ and “a budget airline”.
