Linux on desktop computers will begin taking off in mainstream markets in the next 12 to 18 months.
OK this might not seem like a massive thing to most people but I shall explain! Linux isn’t a widely used OS because it is complicated and difficult to use. This means that companies will go to Microsoft for their software packages.
Unfortunately this is expensive because of all the licensing fees the company will have to pay out for the Microsoft products. This is where Linux will come in!
In case you don’t know Linux is known as an open-source OS which basically means that there are no licensing required for the software or the OS! This will greatly benefit smaller companies who will not be able to afford to pay out the big bucks for the licensing.
If more companies start to use Linux hopefully this will result in people being able to purchase Linux OS’s on thier home pc’s as well (preinstalled)! Down with windows!

As a personal sidenote I have never tried Linux but if I could pick it up as quickly as I have picked up every function on an Apple Mac then I’ll definitely be in favour of it over windows. I have been an avid windows user for many years now and for amount of time has it given me a moment of joy. I used to have some terrible headaches while fixing problems that should not have been there in the first place.
One more thing, you forgot DOWN WITH IE.

well i decided that DOWN WITH IE comes under DOWN WITH WINDOWS :P Well seeing ur now a happy apple user there isn’t much sense going for linux….ur better with apple :P (cos u like ur web designy stuff)

I suppose but IE is also available on an Apple but yes you’re correct, I’m well into my “web designy stuff” so Mac is for me :D
