When I was in ‘Smiths the other day reading their magazines I’m sure one of them, Stuff or T3 or one similar had a review of Digital SLR’s but I can’t remember which one was best, possibly a Panasonic Lumix but that is a guess, pop down and have a scan.

Thanks for the input mate, although as usual I’m way ahead of you, I popped into John De Gruchys on the way home and held that said camera in my hand, it was awesome! I’ve also been hearing very good reviews on the FUJI 9500 due to its really really good zoom and high output (9mp with 10.7x zoom) so I’ve got this far: Panasonic Lumix Z300 vs Fuji 9500.

I’ve had a digital camera since Xmas of 03 and I’ve never used it. I like the old fasion way.

Somehow the old fashioned way intrigues me, is that like saying to your wife “I prefer bum sex but you know what, tonight I would like it better the old fashioned way” ?

It’s not the same to me because I don’t prefer digital cameras. I like being able to pass photos around the dinner table and cackle with my family and mates. Yes, it’s true! I have a soul! You can just do one our photo pick ups. With a digital camera you have to do all that computer shite and if you wan’t actual photos you have to bring them in, and blah, blah.

Not these days though, you can pick up 6″ by 4″ printers pretty cheap, Samsung do a nice little one for about 55 pounds.

A point to be made is that whilst 10,000,000 megapixels is an impressive stat you will only ever need such a resolution for very very large images, if you want this for you everyday snaps then thats fine but think of the storage space a few hundred pics at the top resolution will take up.
Also, digital cameras do not take pictures in 6 x 4 format, the format is generally 4 x 3 or some such ’squarer’ format which means images printed onto standard size photo paper will either be cropped or resized to fit, neither of which are particularly good.

Useful fact there Mrunred, never knew digital cameras take pictures in squared format…….time for me to get out the specification sheet of this little beauty (I’m buying the FUJI Finepix 5600, cheap and not as bulky)
