Before any comments are posted and definitely before you read any further, I want you to be very careful on how you interpret the meaning of this article. Challenging comments are very welcome but senseless replies like “you’re a racist” are not.
For some, this is a topic that they tend to steer away from on a personal website due to its arguementative nature. I on the other hand would love a challenging discussion on this topic. Not because I want to promote it in any way, heaven forbid, I merely want to gather the thoughts and opinions expressed by the world and how they see one of the most controversial topics in the world, as well as the most overlooked.
When people talk about racism they talk mostly about the black community, the chinese community and the asian community. Somehow I’m failing to see, in 2006, where the white community fit into all of this.
As an example, I’ll use the following paragraph:
“When a white man is beating to a pulp on his way home from a night out, it’s seen as an “attack”. When a black man is beaten to a pulp on his way home from a night out, it’s seen as an “act of racism”. What are the differences between the two? Surely both men were beaten to a pulp and surely there should be no differences in how it is broadcasted.”
In this day and age do we class the white community as a minority or do we just forget about them altogether? I have never once read in the newspaper “White man beaten to death, police are looking into the matter as an act of racism and questioning all young black offenders in the area” - Search back in your minds and try to remember a similar time, can you think of a time when a newspaper referred to an act of crime on the white community an act of racism?
Surely there has to be concern as far as the white community goes. Years ago (a lot, we’re talking 10’s here) when those members of the black community were sneared at and spat at then you could say without a doubt this is racist behaviour. Nowadays, if an employer does not employ a black person it’s seen as “an act of racism” rather than that person not living up the standards expected of them.
Another interesting fact is that if you watch most movies these days, modern of course, you have your “Token” community members, I’m not going to go indepth in this subject because I don’t mind talented movie stars of any origin, as long as they can act (thats hugh grant out of the lineup then!).
When you start noticing things like this and when areas of violent behaviour are present where a member of the white community is harassed nothing is done about it but when a black person is harassed everyone drops paperwork and rushes to the scene to defend them, you start to wonder what level this has escalated to.
Maybe I’m imagining it, maybe I’m being brainwashed by the media or maybe I’m just feeling hungry. I can’t handle these raw emotions anymore.

Shut up, crackah!
Unfortunately I do not see racism ever disappearing. It gets passed on from generation to generation. It’s a vicious cycle. I have a lot ‘non-white’ friends and every one of them has made a racist comment towards white people. Or they talk about their parents or grandparents being racist, and how they plan to pass on their views to their children. But REALLY, does it actually bother a white person? Maybe I am just speaking personally, but if some black guy came up to me and called me a cracker, or something, I really couldn’t give two shits. On the other hand, if I over heard a white person calling a black person a nigger, that would bother me. Why? I don’t know. I guess because I know they most likely have to take treatment like that on a regular basis. There’s a show on television here called “Spying on Myself.” Basically you get together with a special effects artist and change your identity. Anyway. There was one episode where a black family was turned in to a white family and a white family was turned in to a black family. It was SUCH a shock to watch. It was unbelievable how differently they were treated.

And in some cases either side could be treated worse then the other. I instinctively know that most people here would be thinking “Yes, I bet when the white family were turned into a black family they were badly mistreated” and these are members of the white community saying this!
One thing that confuses me is that members of the black community can get away with calling themselves such keywords as “nigger” and “brother” while at the same moment in time a member of the white community does the same and all hell breaks loose? I don’t understand it and I probably wouldn’t like to. Just give me a nice hot pot of coffee and a chocolate cake and I’ll ignore everything and everyone around me.

I believe racism still exists! It will always exist. Whether it be racial or economic class or whether you just hate someone who has a job that you deem lower class then yourself. We all have our own prejudices that were either engrained in us from family and then of course our society and culture add to that mix. Personally, I hate stupid people.
